Hideki (1884—1948), Japanese military leader and statesman, Prime Minister 1941—4. He initiated the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and by 1944 he had assumed virtual control of all political and military decision-making. After Japan's surrender he was tried and hanged as a war criminal.
