1. 塑性变形（英语：Plastic deformation），指材料受外力作用而形变时，若过了一定的限度则不能恢复原状，这样的变形叫做塑性变形。这个限度称作弹性限度。以具延展性的金属为例，当它受到小程度的拉力时，它延长后可以回复原状，但若拉力很大，它可能有某部分拉长后不能缩短。 大部分的物料也会发生塑性变形，包括金属、泥土、混凝土、泡沫、岩石、骨骼、皮肤等。出现塑性变形的原因各有不同，总括来说是由于物质内出现微小的裂缝或差排。物料的延展性愈高，弹性限度愈高。此外，弹性限度也受拉力增加的速度影响。
